So much focus in softball is rightfully on the pitcher. It helps make Alex Haley ideally suited to be a catcher.
Haley doesn’t seek the spotlight, just the opportunity to be a big part of the action and contribute to a winning team, two scenarios that have come frequently throughout her career.
One of her future goals is to keep Susquehanna University on a high level. The Jersey Outlaws Gold-DB and Steinert High School catcher has verbally committed to join the River Hawks’ Landmark Conference program in NCAA Division III as part of their 2020 recruiting class.
Haley’s winning style was particularly evident in 2018 when she was the starting catcher for a Steinert squad that ranked No. 1 in New Jersey after it captured the NJSIAA Group III and Tournament of Champion titles.
A gritty, defensively strong catcher with an accurate arm, Haley’s excellent hand-to-eye coordination allows her to hit to all fields. Off the field at Steinert, she currently ranks 15th in a 317-member junior class.
